Tech Policy Initiatives (TPI)
Inspired by our Tech Policy Summit: Emerging Tech Policies for the United States of the Future in 2025, BGT sought to establish a clear framework for tech, policy, and government to continue the conversation for rapid innovation with AI and other technological trends.
We wanted to share this foundation as a simplified mark towards progress, not perfection, as we look forward to partnering with other institutions who advance our ecosystem together.

Expand Economic Development Opportunities in United States Communities for Emerging Tech Workforce Strategies
The Bureau of Labor Statistics projects approximately 280,000 openings annually in computer and information technology occupations from 2025 through 2035, reflecting both employment growth and replacement needs. These opportunities call for workforce strategies that connect affordable training to employment. BGT hosts trainings and advances partnerships that prepare professionals to meet emerging technology needs and translate their skills into economic opportunity.
2
Advance Entrepreneurship and Leadership through Private/Public Sector Innovation and Intellectual Property Protection
Founders need resources to build, protect, and grow their businesses. According to the Federal Reserve Banks’ 2026 report on small business credit, only 42% of financing applicants among small employer firms received the full amount sought, while 22% received none. In addition, the economic stakes of protecting innovation are substantial: the USPTO’s 2026 report found that IP-intensive industries contributed $11.4 trillion to U.S. economic output in 2024. BGT connects entrepreneurs with capital resources, procurement guidance, and practical education on protecting and commercializing what they build.
3
Modernization of Higher Education Tech Initiatives
Integrating higher education with practical experience helps students move from the classroom into the workforce. Employers participating in the National Association of Colleges and Employers’ 2026 survey reported an average intern-to-full-time conversion rate of 63.1% for 2024-25 interns. BGT partners with public and private colleges and universities to advance technology innovation curricula, expand access to paid internships, and strengthen AI literacy and job readiness.
4
Promote AI Bias Mitigation and Fair Access to Opportunity
AI is becoming part of how government operates and serves the public. But as agencies expand adoption, public concern remains high: Pew Research Center’s February 2026 survey found that 71% of U.S. adults believe increased AI use will make their personal information less secure. BGT advances practical safeguards for AI that affects employment decisions and access to public services.
5
Build Community, Collaboration, and Coalition Among Technologists and Tech Policy Professionals
The tech community is asking for more opportunities to learn and advance together. That demand reinforces the value of bringing our network together around shared goals. BGT builds sustained collaboration through intentional gatherings, working groups, and joint projects that connect technical expertise with policy leadership and deliver tangible community benefits.
