Our Story
Founded as an unannounced networking event in November 2022, Black Gov Tech has grown to a professional network of the leading tech companies, consulting firms, and government agencies in the DC area advancing tech careers, entrepreneurship, and education of over 30k members from mid-level technologists to executive level CIOs.
In November 2024, our impact had been validated through a historic invitation to speak at the White House through the Department of Commerce, Minority Business Development Agency for dialogue and strategies for federal procurement for small businesses in the technology space. This led to us truly focusing on the epicenter of how we currently operate: the intersection of tech, federal, and policy spaces to advance the nation’s digital workforce for the betterment of society and public sector outcomes.
Originally scheduled for Spring 2025, our Inaugural Conference at the Walter E. Convention Center targeted 1000 attendees, 25 sponsors, and 90 speakers, however, BGT decided to hold for the safety of our community in response to the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) era and Presidential White House Executive Orders.
With boldness and conviction from the BGT community and its leaders, the first ever Tech Policy Summit was founded in September 2025 in response in Washington, DC, where we offered real time strategies and solutions for the future of emerging technologies in the United States and its communities.

Premier networking and tech career coaching/ job placement, for all levels, into the leading tech companies, federal agencies, government contractors, nonprofits, and state/ local governments for better outcomes by reflecting the communities they target and serve.
Tech Entrepreneurship Accelerator
Training, mentoring, and upskilling the communities of our nation to address the shortage and advancement of the futuristic tech workforce and tech entrepreneurship for the government.
Tech Policy and Educational Events
In alignment with our public and private sector partners, curated resources such as specialized workshops/ tech certification cohorts, panels, webinars, white papers, and conferences leading to advanced opportunities not taught in traditional learning, rather through applicable experiences for enhanced economic development.
